Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has charted plans to onboard 40,000 fresh graduates during the 2024 financial year.

N Ganapathy Subramaniam, COO of TCS, reaffirmed the company’s recruitment strategy stating, “Our annual hiring target typically hovers between 35,000 to 40,000 individuals, and we are committed to maintaining that trajectory.”

He dispelled rumors of large-scale layoffs, indicating that the company is ramping up its utilization rates by actively leveraging its diverse talent pool.

TCS’ future-ready workforce equipped in Generalized AI (Gen-AI) has surpassed 100,000 personnel by the close of the fiscal’s September quarter. Despite a minor reduction of 6,333 employees, the organization remains steadfast in its commitment to attracting bright, fresh talent, and preparing them with the necessary skill set.

N Ganapathy Subramaniam stated, “Our investment in our people and next-generation technologies continues unabated.” He highlighted that the current pool of Gen-AI-ready professionals includes consultants and prompt engineers working on myriad Gen-AI projects spanning numerous industry sectors.

Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer at TCS, underlined the success of the company’s strategy to hire proactive fresh graduates and equip them with targeted training. He elaborated, “Our heightened productivity and superior project outcomes stem from this pipeline of fresh talent, coupled with our efforts to keep attrition in check.”

As an indicator of TCS’ commitment to continuous learning, TCS employees have amassed 26.4 million learning hours to date, picking up 2.6 million competencies. This includes 350,000 in high-demand skills. The IT services’ attrition stood at 14.9% over the past year.

In its financial report for Q1FY24, ending June 30, 2023, TCS reported an IT Services attrition rate of 17.8% for the quarter. With a strong workforce of 615,318, the company added a net headcount of 523, maintaining its commitment to gender balance with women making up 35.8% of the workforce. Source
